New York City is a fun and exciting place to visit, but it is very easy to get caught up in the numerous tourist traps and miss out on the best things that the city has to offer. Here are some fun things to do in NYC that may not be on your radar.
Walk the High Line
Venture to the west side of the city and take a walk on the High Line. The High Line is a 1.45-mile-long elevated linear park and walking trail built on an old railroad track. With lots of fun things to see and interesting stands selling art and food along the way, it’s a great and unique way to get some fresh air and escape the hustle and bustle while in the city.
See a Broadway Show
While this is not exactly a unique idea, a trip to NYC is not complete without a visit to Broadway. If you are not very interested in theater or just have no idea what to see, read some NYC theater reviews to get an idea of what may be most appealing to you. Also, be sure to stop by the TKTS booth for discounted, day-of tickets to a variety of shows. Just be prepared to be flexible, as the shows change daily and some sell out quicker than others.
Visit Chinatown
New York is known for pizza and food from street vendor carts, but Chinatown in Lower Manhattan is also a great and less touristy place to grab a bite to eat. The streets are lined with Chinese food restaurants, from traditional Chinese to ramen and dumpling houses. You are sure to find something tasty and you won’t have to deal with any big city crowds.
Take a Trip to Chelsea Market
If you are a foodie, then Chelsea Market is the place for you. It is full of tons of different and interesting vendors like delicious pizza, a raw bar, numerous bakeries, and much more. Be sure to go hungry so you can sample items from multiple places. The market is also just a quick walk from the High Line, so you can even get some exercise before you stuff yourself with goodies.
New York City is a wonderful place to visit, but it is easy to get caught up in the wonder of Times Square and never really see its most interesting features. Use this list to create a fun and eventful trip that your friends will envy.
