Hanoi, an oriental city you need to visit in Southeast Asia

Hanoi is one of the best places in Southeast Asia. though the city is very small in size, the culture, the architecture and the vibrant life of the city are worth talking about. It is called the coolest city in the South East Asia region. The city is almost 1000 years old and has survived the colonial occupation, ravages of war and still has never lost its spirit and sense of identity! Here I am going to talk about some amazing facts about the city, and you must add it to your next visit.

  1. The food street: The street food at Hanoi is world-famous. It is one of the best places to head to in the evening. Tong Duy Tan Street, also known as the ‘food street’ is one such location to talk about. There are cars on the street, filled with outdoor tables and plastic stools. The eateries and food stalls sell different varieties of foods like seafood, Vietnamese barbeques, noodle dishes, pancakes, dumplings, etc. It is surely a great place to know about the locals and socialize over with plates of snacks, washed down with jugs of beer and glasses of rice wine.
  2. Lakes: Hanoi city is filled with lakes, that give a tranquil respite from the chaos and busy city life. Hoan Kim lake, one to name is also known as the Turtle Lake. There is a temple named Ngoc Son Temple, which is a favorite spot to moring fitness fanatics. The largest lake in the city is West Lake with a circumference of 17 kilometers. Tran Quoc Pagoda is the oldest pagoda in Vietnam. Quan Thanh Temple is one of the ancient Hanoi’s four most sacred temples.
  3. Bun Cha: Bun Cha is the lunchtime favorite food of Hanoi. In fact, ex-President Obama ate Bun Cha with late Anthony Bourdain. It is made with grilled pork that is soft and chewy, has vermicelli noodles with a fresh green salad, and served as both sweet and sour. In fact, a hotel named Bun Cha Huong Lien has an exclusive Obama menu with deep-fried Hanoi style spring rolls and Hanoi beer.
  4. Culture: Hanoi opera house was built in the late 19th century, with beautiful French architecture, and it happens to the city’s main landmarks. There is pinch of history, traditions, cultures, circuses, contemporary dances, and plays, happening all the time that is absolutely mesmerizing to view.
