Where Is Death Valley?

You’ll find Death Valley in California, specifically in the Mojave Desert. It’s also one of the hottest and driest places on Earth, with temperatures above 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

What to Do in Death Valley?

Despite its name, Death Valley has plenty to offer. There are plenty of Death Valley tourist destinations to choose from. You can make sure you don’t miss a thing by staying at one of the best death valley hotels.

When you’re planning to go sightseeing in death valley, there are breathtaking places you don’t want to miss, such as:

Badwater Basin

Badwater Basin is 282 feet below sea level, making it the lowest point in North America. It was once home to Lake Manly, which evaporated thousands of years ago. Now, it has salt flats that extend almost 200 square miles. You can walk out into the salt flats but be prepared for about a 2-mile roundtrip walk.

Dante’s View

Dante’s View is on the ridge of the Black Mountains and towers above Badwater Basin. It also boasts a truly amazing sunrise and sunset making it a prime spot for photographers.

Death Valley is mostly free of light pollution and is designated as an International Dark Sky Park. Dante’s View is also the perfect place for stargazing, and you might even catch a glimpse of the Milky Way.

Darwin Falls

Death Valley is full of incredible surprises, and a waterfall is one of them! Darwin Falls is a waterfall in Death Valley National Park that flows year-round. You can find this oasis in Panamint Springs on the west side of Death Valley.

Racetrack Playa

If you’re ready for a bizarre adventure, you take a drive to visit Racetrack Playa. It’s a dry lakebed with stones that mysteriously appear to glide by themselves and leave trails behind them.

Eureka Dunes

If you want to see something spectacular, check out the Eureka Dunes in Death Valley. These sand dunes are the tallest in California, and you can see the Last Chance Mountains in the background.

The Eureka Dunes aren’t just incredible to look at either. You can actually hear them sing right underneath your feet. If you walk on the dunes under the right dry conditions, you’ll hear what sounds like a pipe organ playing in the sand.
