Pacifica Municipal Pier in Pacifica, California
The Pacifica Municipal Fishing Pier is an old concrete pier on the waterfront in the Sharp Park neighborhood of Pacifica CA. The beach next to the pier, Sharp Park Beach, is badly eroded so there is no exposed sand at high tide. Fishing from the pier is free and does not require a fishing license, making it popular with local fishermen. There is a small cafe at the entrance to the pier and as this is a non-touristy area this pier has a very local vibe.
Mendocino
While Northern California is home to a long stretch of incredible coastline with a plethora of travel destinations, my personal favorite is Mendocino. The city of Mendocino is full of character and home to artists, small boutiques, and outdoor activities.
One of the best ways to experience Mendocino is along the coastal trails in parks like Van Damme State Park and Russian Gulch State Park. Trails follow headlands, weaving in and out of cliffs that tower over the Pacific Ocean.
